See this tripA D-Day tour that starts in Normandy is a guided drive along the landing coast. It leaves from Bayeux, Caen or Le Havre, in a minivan, a van or on an electric bike. The sites themselves charge nothing: the beaches, Pointe du Hoc and the Normandy American Cemetery are free and need no booking. What you pay for is the transport, a guide who knows where each unit came ashore, and on some days a museum.
Almost every day here covers the American sector, where the American Battle Monuments Commission counts over 4,000 American casualties on Omaha Beach alone. The UNESCO listing of 2026 runs about 80 km of coast, from Utah in the west to Sword Beach in the east. Normandy beach tours from Bayeux reach Omaha Beach in about 45 minutes, which is why most of these days start there.
A full day from Bayeux spends five to six and a half hours at the sites out of eight or nine. A day from Paris spends about six hours in Normandy out of fourteen. If you are already on the coast, you keep those road hours for the beaches.
