Prices, start towns, museum tickets, lunch, the 2026 closures, children and refunds, answered from the operators' own listings and the official pages of the sites. Choosing your Normandy booking? The answers below settle most of it.
Two answers matter more than the rest. First, no fare buys entry to Normandy itself: the beaches, Pointe du Hoc and the Normandy American Cemetery are free. A fare buys a day that starts in Paris, Bayeux, Caen or Le Havre, and a tour from one will not collect you in another. Second, read what the fare covers. Some days put a museum ticket or lunch in the price, and some list only the guide and the minivan.
After that it is the calendar. Pointe du Hoc is under works until mid-2027, the cemetery's grave plots have been closed since July 2026, and the Bayeux Tapestry Museum is shut until the autumn of 2027.
Do I need a tour to visit the D-Day beaches?
Not for a ticket: the beaches, Pointe du Hoc and the Normandy American Cemetery are free and need no booking. A tour replaces the car, since the American Battle Monuments Commission calls local public transport intermittent. It also brings a guide who knows where each unit came ashore.
Should I go from Paris or stay in Bayeux?
From Paris the day runs 12 to 14 hours, with two and a half to four hours on the road each way. Bayeux sits about 45 minutes from the beaches, so a night there buys a half day or a full day with most of it on the ground.
How much does a Normandy tour cost?
A shore day from Le Havre starts at $103, a Bayeux half day costs $107 to $136, and a Bayeux full day $154 to $216 a person. A shared day from Paris costs $135 to $330, or $480 with the train fare. Private tours run from $219 a person, and one car costs $986 for a group of up to 7.
Is the museum entry included?
On some fares. The Utah Beach Museum is in the City Wonders days from Paris, the Overlord Museum in the Blue Fox days, the museum ticket in the Mémorial de Caen's own tour and the Juno Beach Centre in the Canadian day. Several Bayeux days include no museum, and one lists entrance fees as extra.
Is Pointe du Hoc open in 2026?
Yes, from 9 am to 5 pm daily, but the American Battle Monuments Commission is rebuilding its visitor facilities until mid-2027. At Pointe du Hoc the visitor center has been closed since 9 March 2026, and since mid-May parts of the site are shut, with access by the west path only.
Is the American Cemetery at Colleville open?
The Normandy American Cemetery opens daily from 9 am to 5 pm except 25 December and 1 January, free and without booking. Since a notice of 28 July 2026 the grave plots are temporarily closed because of water restrictions. The memorial, the chapel, the Garden of the Missing and the visitor center stay open, so check before you go.
Is lunch included on a Normandy tour?
On the City Wonders days from Paris, which serve a two-course lunch with a glass of cider, and on the Le Havre shore days, which bring a packed lunch. Most other days stop where you can buy your own.
Can I see Mont-Saint-Michel and the D-Day beaches in one day?
Only on a private day from Paris, about 14 and a half hours with the Overlord Museum, Omaha Beach, the cemetery and the abbey. Otherwise give the Mont its own day, from Bayeux or from Paris.
Is the Mont-Saint-Michel abbey ticket included?
Yes, on every Mont-Saint-Michel tour listed here. On its own the abbey costs €16 until 30 September 2026 and €13 from 1 October. The village below it is free to walk.
Are children allowed on Normandy tours?
Most take them, with limits set by each listing. The Blue Fox minivan days from Paris are 7 and over, the Ophorus days from Bayeux 4 and over, and the train day 14 and over. On the coaches you bring your own child seat.
What is the cancellation policy?
It depends on the tour, and every card states its own. Most refund in full up to 24 hours ahead, the Normandy Sightseeing Tours days up to 6 days ahead, and the Mémorial de Caen tour up to 48 hours. The train day from Paris is non-refundable.
Are Normandy tours wheelchair accessible?
Only the private Bayeux beaches day and the private VIP day from Paris say they are. Every shared tour listed here says it is not, and the paths at Pointe du Hoc are rough during the works.
Can I visit the D-Day beaches from a cruise at Le Havre?
Yes. The Le Havre shore days meet you outside the cruise terminal, drive about two hours each way, give you about five hours at the sites and bring you back to the ship.
Is the Bayeux Tapestry on show?
No. The Bayeux Tapestry Museum is closed for renovation until autumn 2027. An exhibition on the Tapestry's conservation, Linen and Wool, opened to visitors in Bayeux in May 2026.
What is the best month for a Normandy tour?
May to September, for long museum hours and the free cemetery tours in English. Early June brings the anniversary and the crowds. From October the abbey ticket drops to €13, but the Overlord Museum shuts from 4 January to 12 February and the Juno Beach Centre in January.
How long is a D-Day tour from Paris?
Twelve to fourteen hours door to door. The City Wonders coach day takes 14 hours, with about four on the road each way; the minivans of eight take 12 to 13.
Which D-Day beaches do the tours visit?
Almost all of them cover the American sector: Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc and the cemetery, with Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église on the full days. The Canadian day goes to Juno Beach, and some Paris days add Arromanches on the British side.
Is there a Canadian D-Day tour?
Yes: a small-group day from Paris to Juno Beach, the Juno Beach Centre, the Canadian cemetery at Bény-sur-Mer and the Abbaye d'Ardenne. Entrance fees are in the fare.
How many people are on a small-group tour?
Eight at most on most minivan days. The Ophorus days from Bayeux carry up to 19, the Le Havre shore days up to 45 and the City Wonders coaches up to 50.
Do tours pick me up at my hotel?
The private tours do, and Normandy Sightseeing Tours collects from selected Bayeux hotels. Most shared days meet at Place du Québec in Bayeux, at Porte Maillot or avenue de Wagram in Paris, or outside the Le Havre cruise terminal.
How much are the D-Day museums?
Adult tickets in 2026: the Utah Beach Museum €10, the Overlord Museum €9.90 (€10.90 in 2027), the Airborne Museum €11.50, the Juno Beach Centre €9 and the Mémorial de Caen €20.80. Children pay less at each.
How long do tours spend at the American Cemetery?
From 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the tour. The cemetery runs free guided tours in English at 11 am and 2 pm in season, with no booking.
Can I walk from the American Cemetery down to Omaha Beach?
No. The path from the cemetery down to the beach has been closed since 2016 for security. The beach is reached by the public access nearby.
Is there a bike tour of the D-Day beaches?
Yes: a private half-day e-bike ride from Bayeux to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, from $219 a person. The helmet, water and snacks are in the fare.
Can I take the train from Paris and join a tour in Bayeux?
Yes. Trains run from Paris Saint-Lazare to Bayeux, and one tour sells the rail tickets with the day and meets you at Bayeux station. It is non-refundable, so be sure of the date.
What happens if Pointe du Hoc is shut on my tour day?
The Ophorus days from Bayeux say they will swap in the Longues-sur-Mer battery, and the Blue Fox days from Paris already stop there. On any other tour, ask your operator.
Is Mont-Saint-Michel worth a day trip from Paris?
It is a 14-hour day with about 3 hours on the Mont. From Bayeux a day gives you up to 5 hours there.
When is the Mont-Saint-Michel abbey open?
From 9 am to 7 pm, May to August, and 9:30 am to 6 pm, September to April. Last entry is an hour before closing. It is closed on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December, and on Sunday 4 October 2026.
Is there a lot of walking?
Yes. Reviewers stress good shoes, the Mont has hundreds of steps, and Pointe du Hoc is uneven ground full of craters.
What should I wear?
Layers and a waterproof. At Caen it rains on about one day in three across the year and one in four even in July, and the coast is windy.
Do I tip the guide?
Tips are left out of almost every fare, and none adds one. Tip as you would at home, in euros.
Do D-Day tours run in the rain?
Yes. Several listings say they run rain or shine. The e-bike ride and some private days may be cancelled for bad weather, and then offer another date or a full refund.
What languages are the tours in?
English on every tour listed here. The Mémorial de Caen tour and some private tours also run in French.
Where should I stay for D-Day tours?
Bayeux, where the most tours start and the cemetery's own advice points visitors. Caen suits the Mémorial, and Port-en-Bessin puts you on the coast.
What does "per group of up to 7" mean?
The fare buys the whole car for up to seven people, so a party of seven pays $986 once. That is the private American-sector day from Bayeux or Caen.
How many graves are in the Normandy American Cemetery?
The Normandy American Cemetery holds 9,389 graves on 172.5 acres, and the Walls of the Missing carry 1,557 names. So the "10,000 white crosses" one listing mentions is not the count: it rounds the graves up.
